How Much Does Car Recovery Cost?

What actually drives the price of a recovery or transport job, and why a quote over the phone needs a few specific details.

All articles

There is no single price

Anyone quoting a flat figure before knowing the job is guessing. The cost of moving a vehicle depends on a handful of practical variables, and honest operators will ask about them.

  • Distance between collection and delivery
  • Whether the job is urgent or can be scheduled
  • Vehicle type, size and weight
  • Whether the vehicle rolls, steers and brakes
  • Access at both ends — driveway, garage, multi-storey, gravel, slope
  • Time of day

Emergency recovery vs planned transport

A planned movement booked a few days ahead is almost always cheaper than an emergency recovery, because it can be routed alongside other work. If your car is safely off the road and does not have to move today, booking it in will usually save money.

Check your existing cover first

Before paying for recovery, check whether you already have it. Breakdown cover is often bundled with car insurance, bank accounts, credit cards and new-car warranties. If you are covered, use it.

Getting a straight answer

Send us the two postcodes, the vehicle and whether it runs, and we will price the job properly rather than quoting a number and revising it on arrival.
